Home Nightclub in Hamilton is the residence of two dark themed nights, both of
which run on Monday nights.
Home is a three-level nightclub located at 12 Ferguson St. in downtown Hamilton
(just off of King St. East).
The first of the two nights "Nihil" runs each Monday in the basement
level of Home. The atmosphere in the basement is very cave-like. Dark and
brooding, it twists and turns slightly giving a very dark atmosphere, perfect
for the night. "Nihil" is run by DJ Prospero and feautures several
guest DJs spinning sets of Industrial, Hardcore, Punk, Ska and other music
"other bars are too afraid to play".
The second night, running parallel to "Nihil", is "Virus: A
Night of Dark Erotica". "Virus" takes place on Home's Main Floor
level. Hosted by DJ Syth (founder of St. Catharines' esteemed "The Vampire
Ball" back in 1999) and his co-hort, Bats, they duo play an ecclectic
blend of goth, industrial, darkwave, EBM, dark electronic, horrorpunk,
synthpop, glam, and dark/retro alternative. Giveaways happen every now and
then. The atmosphere isn't as comforting, but the most can be made. Lots of
booths to sit and chill, as well as pool tables (found on both floors). Also,
there is a guy who reads Tarot cards for those looking for a little premonition
while they're clubbing. Unfortunately, Home also runs it's inter-bar pool
league on Mondays, so the pool teams don't usually clear out till around 10:30
pm or so.
At present, neither night has a cover charge, so it's two floors of great music
for free! Rumblings from management are that a $3 cover may arise down the
road, so take advantage now and loyal patrons may be rewarded with passes when
the cover kicks in.
